ADHD Evaluations for Accommodations in New Jersey

ADHD Accomodations – Who is this for?

If you need documentation to request accommodations for ADHD, whether for a child’s school, a college disability services office, a standardized exam, or your workplace, a thorough evaluation is where it starts.

At Kolli Psychiatric & Associates, our psychiatrists provide in-depth ADHD evaluations and the clear, professional documentation that accommodation requests depend on. We see patients at our Red Bank office and by telepsychiatry throughout New Jersey.
Who this is for

An evaluation for accommodations can help if you are:

  • A parent seeking documentation to support a 504 Plan or IEP request for your child.
  • A college student who needs current documentation for a disability services office.
  • An adult requesting reasonable accommodations at work under the ADA.
  • Preparing to request extended time or other supports on a standardized or professional exam.
  • Someone whose earlier request was denied for insufficient documentation and who needs a clearer, more specific report.

If you are still deciding whether accommodations make sense for your situation, our guide to ADHD accommodations across school, college, testing, and work walks through what each setting requires.

If anxiety is making you feel unlike yourself, we can help.

What the ADHD Evaluation provides

Our evaluations are designed to answer two questions that nearly every accommodation request turns on: is ADHD present, and how does it affect functioning. A typical evaluation includes a detailed clinical interview, a developmental and medical history, and, when appropriate, standardized rating scales. It results in:

  • A diagnosis, when the criteria are met.
  • Written documentation that describes the diagnosis, explains how ADHD affects daily functioning, and includes recommendations you can submit to a school, college, testing agency, or employer.

This kind of clinical documentation is one important form of support for an accommodation request, and it is often what a 504 Plan, IEP, or workplace request needs. It is not the only form, though. Some settings, particularly standardized and professional testing agencies, apply higher documentation standards and may require more, such as comprehensive neuropsychological testing that provides objective, standardized data.

We do not perform that testing in-house, but we can tell you when your situation is likely to need it and coordinate it with trusted neuropsychologists. You can read more about what neuropsychological testing involves and when it helps.

It is important to understand that no clinician can guarantee a request will be approved. The school, agency, or employer makes that decision. What we can do is establish a clear diagnosis, document how ADHD affects your functioning, and point you toward the right level of documentation for your situation.

Why Choose Kolli Psychiatric & Associates

Our practice is physician-led, so your evaluation is conducted by a psychiatrist rather than by less specialized staff. We evaluate children, adolescents, and adults, and our child and adolescent evaluations are conducted by psychiatrists fellowship-trained in child and adolescent psychiatry. We take the time an accurate evaluation requires.

If treatment turns out to be a helpful next step, we offer it under one roof, including medication management, therapy, and executive function coaching. Accommodations reduce barriers, but they are not a treatment, and for many people the combination works best.

Conditions We Treat

Our experienced New Jersey psychiatrists specialize in treating a wide range of mental health issues, from simple to complex concerns, including but not limited to depression, anxiety OCD, ADHD, corporate work stress, and personality disorders.

How our practice works: private-pay and out-of-network

Kolli Psychiatric & Associates is a private-pay, out-of-network practice. Practically, this means our psychiatrists can give an evaluation the time and depth it needs, and write documentation that is genuinely thorough, without the visit-length limits that insurance networks often impose.

Many patients use their out-of-network mental health benefits. After your visit, we provide the documentation you would submit to your insurer for possible reimbursement. Because plans vary, we encourage you to check your out-of-network coverage in advance so you know what to expect.

Frequently Asked Questions about ADHD Accomodations

Can you provide documentation or a letter for ADHD accommodations?

Yes. When an evaluation supports an ADHD diagnosis, we provide written documentation describing the diagnosis, how it affects functioning, and recommendations you can submit to a school, college, testing agency, or employer.

Is an ADHD diagnosis enough to get accommodations?

Sometimes. A diagnosis with documentation of how ADHD affects your functioning is often enough for school (a 504 Plan or IEP) and workplace requests.

Higher-stakes settings, such as standardized and professional testing agencies, may require more, including comprehensive neuropsychological testing. We can help you determine what your specific situation needs.

Do you perform neuropsychological testing?

We provide comprehensive clinical ADHD evaluations. When a situation calls for the depth of neuropsychological testing, such as some standardized-exam accommodation requests, we coordinate that testing with trusted neuropsychologists rather than performing it in-house.

Do you take insurance?

We are an out-of-network, private-pay practice. Many patients use out-of-network benefits, and we provide documentation you can submit to your insurer for possible reimbursement. Coverage varies by plan, so it is worth confirming your out-of-network benefits in advance.

Do you see both children and adults?

Yes. We evaluate children, adolescents, and adults. Our child and adolescent evaluations are conducted by psychiatrists fellowship-trained in child and adolescent psychiatry.

Do you offer telehealth in New Jersey?

Yes. We see patients in person at our Red Bank office and by secure telepsychiatry throughout New Jersey.

Can you guarantee that I will receive accommodations?

No. The school, testing agency, or employer makes the final decision. Our role is to provide accurate, thorough documentation that supports your request as strongly as possible.

How soon can I be seen?

New patients are often scheduled within one to two weeks.
